Canaccord Founder Peter Brown Resigns after 46-Year Career

Vancouver Sun, May 24, 2014
Canaccord founder Peter Brown has resigned as a director and officer of Canaccord Genuity, the company announced Friday. “I would like to thank Peter for his many contributions to the success of Canaccord Genuity in nearly five decades of service,” Canaccord CEO Paul Reynolds said in a statement.
“We were western cowboys,” Brown told the Sun in a 2011 interview. “In our business, Toronto is very much a head-office town.”

Most recently Brown held the post of director and honorary chairman; he stepped down as chairman of Canaccord Genuity in 2012. According to the statement, Brown plans to “pursue a new career advising established private companies with a growth profile and in need of private debt and equity financing.”
